NEW YORK CITY (Legal Tech Conference) – February 6, 2008 –Electronic Evidence Discovery, Inc. (EED), the pioneering leader in eDiscovery, today announced that they are teaming with IBM to address the growing eDiscovery needs of global organizations. Recognizing that eDiscovery requirements span corporate IT and legal departments, EED and IBM will work together to offer customers comprehensive professional services and complementary software solutions to address these needs.
As part of the agreement, EED will serve as a legal eDiscovery business partner to IBM, offering legal eDiscovery Process Design consulting and corporate Litigation Readiness services to IBM customers, as well as reactive eDiscovery services for individual outsourced litigation.
“EED’s legal discovery consulting services are an excellent complement to IBM ECM professional services and IBM Global Business Services,” said Dave McCann, chief executive officer of EED, Inc. “We expect to support IBM in a variety of opportunities involving corporate legal departments looking for eDiscovery solutions, and we also expect to assist in the development, design and review of complementary eDiscovery-based collateral and products. We are fortunate to have a partner such as IBM that is helping us champion the message of proactive eDiscovery preparedness, intelligent archiving, automated classification and records management.”
EED is also building a Content Enabled Vertical Application (CEVA) on top of the IBM FileNet P8 platform for Fortune 500 companies and their legal departments. The application will include technology from EED and IBM such as IBM Records Crawler.
“Together, EED and IBM are working to help enterprises realize a vision of proactive, responsive eDiscovery capability that drives down risk, reduces cost, and delivers sustained ROI from eDiscovery investments,” stated Craig Rhinehart, director, product and strategy, compliance and discovery, for IBM ECM. “The combination of EED’s deep expertise in eDiscovery Process Design with IBM’s market-leading content, business process, and records management systems offers enterprise IT and legal departments an unprecedented, integrated solution to their exploding eDiscovery needs, covering the entire lifecycle of eDiscovery from collection and preservation of data and records through processing, review, and production of electronic evidence. We look forward to working with EED to support the eDiscovery needs of IT and legal departments.”
McCann added, “With the credibility EED can bring with our more than 10 years of eDiscovery experience, and IBM’s market leadership in proactive enterprise content management, we believe we can quickly distance ourselves from potential competitors in the multi-billion dollar eDiscovery market. Teaming with IBM brings together two leaders that have the right combination of products and services to help companies gain more control over their eDiscovery process, and reduce risk and costs.”
