Electronic Evidence Discovery Authority to speak at UK eDisclosure Management Conference
Panel of experts to address growing interest in eDisclosure challenges faced by corporations and law firms in the European Community
KIRKLAND, Wash. – May 23, 2008 – Electronic Evidence Discovery, Inc., (EED) announced today that Steve Stein, Vice President of Consulting Services, will lead a discussion panel at the Information Retention & E-Disclosure Management Conference, to take place in London May 22-23rd.
Until recently, most companies have only addressed what ESI they possess reactively – after being hit with a lawsuit. It is now clear that early assessment and advanced planning is the key.
“The critical message we impress on our clients” says Stein, “is that the investment in controlled procedures for storing and managing information will assure a higher level of accuracy when the corporation eventually faces a lawsuit. The challenges can be enormous for global companies operating across international borders. In response to this need, Electronic Evidence Discovery opened an operations center in London, to provide hosted review and eDiscovery services to our growing international client base.”
The panel topic “Litigation Readiness: The Importance of Proactive ESI Management Systems” provides an opportunity for Stein to join two other prominent experts in the field to address questions on how corporations and their law firms can work together to develop information systems that are eDisclosure ready, and how they might best manage the virtual teams of legal and IT specialists and eDiscovery service providers in the process.
Steve Stein leads the eDiscovery Consulting practice at EED, having worked with corporations and law firms on eDiscovery issues since 2000. He spent years working with corporations to address pre-litigation concerns in the areas of records management, document retention and litigation readiness. As an eDiscovery consultant, Steve has worked with many clients to scope and implement work flow solutions for the identification, preservation, collection, search, culling, review and production of electronic data, and has managed effective strategies for tape restoration and computer forensics matters. In addition, he has worked with corporations to establish best practices for preservation holds, data collection, written discovery consistency, and meet and confer policy and practices.
Joining Stein on the Panel are M. James Daley, of Redgrave Daley Ragan & Wagner LLP in Kansas City, and George Parapadakis, head of Risk & Compliance Business Solutions for IBM in EMEA.
Daley, with 25 years litigation experience with Fortune 500 clients, now helps corporations develop practical, innovative and defensible solutions to e-discovery and e-records compliance challenges, including legal risk assessments, litigation readiness programs, legal hold processes, computer-based records retention training, and serving as Special Master and Technology Advisor to federal and state courts.
Parapadakis specializes in the design of Risk and Compliance business solutions using ECM technologies. As a technology strategist, he has been responsible for delivering process and information management solutions in regulated industries including pharmaceutical, government, insurance and legal.
